For many countries, coal is not just a fuel, but the foundation of industry and a source of stability. Pylyp Travkin: “Coal as a challenge” – the conversation is not about abandonment, but about finding a balance between the economy and the environment.
China, India, Russia, and other states cannot abandon coal instantly: it provides energy, jobs, and budget revenues. But technology allows for reducing damage without destroying the industry. CCS and CCUS capture up to 90% of COâ‚‚ emissions, gasification converts coal into hydrogen and synthetic fuels, and automation increases efficiency and safety.
Travkin emphasizes: “Developing technologies is cheaper than rebuilding a destroyed economy.” Coal with innovations remains a pillar of the transition period, helping countries modernize their energy sector without losing stability.
